In August of 2023, I was diagnosed with a Myeloproliferative Neoplasm, a rare type of blood cancer. After the initial shock of a cancer diagnosis, I became motivated to help raise money for cancer related causes.

This coming April, I will be joining colleagues from the Cardiac Physiology team at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital to walk the Kiltwalk and raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Every year, the team - Golden Hearts - comes together each April to raise funds for a particular charity. Previous charities include Ronald McDonald House to say thanks for the support they provided a colleague while her daughter had a lengthy hospital admission and MND Scotland in memory of a colleague's loved one. 

This year, we hope to raise as large of an amount as possible to help the Beatson provide the best available care and support to cancer patients and to provide significant funding and services to enhance the experience, treatment, outcomes and wellbeing of current and former cancer patients.
