Story
Until the early hours of Friday 7 December 2007 Hannah Katie King, our friends’ daughter, had been a healthy, beautiful, talented, fun-loving, uniquely stylish 16 year old, with a bright future ahead of her in the medical profession. Shortly after 5.00 am that morning she walked to the ambulance which rushed her to hospital with suspected meningitis. She died five hours later at 10.15 am.
In memory of Hannah, and on behalf of The Meningitis Trust, on the 5th October, Huw and Isabel are going to attempt the ‘Great North Run”. This is a sponsored half marathon in Newcastle.
The Meningitis Research Foundation funds research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia and to improve survival rates and outcomes. They promote education and awareness to reduce death and disability and give support to people affected. Their vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia
We believe that this is one way of achieving a positive outcome to Hannah’s death and of helping to achieve her legacy of inspiring in others the same qualities of loving and giving that she possessed.
