Story
Soon after the start of the Ukraine crisis, a close work colleague at PACE-XL undertook a courageous and inspiring trek to the Polish-Ukraine border. In his own words, he had decided to simply do “what was within my reach”. You can read his story here by copying the following link:

With the support of the PACE-XL Team, on Sunday the 20th March, I will be embarking on the same journey from my home in Sandbach via Hamburg to the Polish/Ukraine border. Once there we will be picking up 2 x families and bringing them to the safety, warmth and care of a refugee camp in Hamburg.
I will be travelling with a colleague from work based in Hamburg. We will pick up a mini-bus and take the 12 hour drive to the border of Poland and Ukraine. We aim to help in a small way to give hope and safety to 2 x families by transfering them to a refugee camp far away from the destruction and chaos they have experienced.
On the scale of the tragedy that is unfolding before our eyes it is a blip on the landscape, but if it gives hope for the future to the families then the trip will have been worth everything.
We will be loading our mini bus with essential supplies to hand out at the border, including toiletries, clothes, children's toys and basic items.
The trip starts on Sunday when I fly to Hamburg. We begin the road trip on Monday, returning later on Tuesday to drop our families off. Returning back to the UK early Wednesday.
I will be funding the road trip myself, and all I ask is that you contribute as much as you are able to my chosen charity.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and read my story. I will post regular updates on my progress.
