Story
In March 2019 I became unwell. It was a very frightening time & we thought the worst. We were told a wrong devastating diagnosis in May 2019 but after many appointments at various hospitals including scans, lumber punctures etc we were finally told in August 2019 that I had remitting & relapsing MS, which out of everything was the best case scenario.
Multiple sclerosis(MS) is a progressive, immune-mediated disorder. That means the system designed to keep your body healthy mistakenly attacks parts of your body that are vital to everyday function. The protective coverings of nerve cells are damaged, which leads to diminished function in the brain and spinal cord.
I was unable to work or drive for over 6 months. As a family we had to try to get our head around the fact that we may have lots of hard times & obstacles ahead of us. This is a snowflake disease so we don’t know what is going to happen & when.
We decided that there is no point in worrying what may be & we are going to carry on with our lives as normal. My Wife Jem signed me up for a skydive to raise money for the MS Trust. VERY out of my comfort zone but on World MS day on the 30th May 2020, I will be jumping out of a plane!
We haven’t made this a well known fact until now as we are very private as a family. We only like to share our happy times but we feel that raising money for this cause is important.
We would very much appreciate it if you could spare any amount of money. Even £1. This would mean a great deal to us. Thank you.
