Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Last year, Duncan and I were enjoying a meal in Amsterdam, we were catching up with our news and this is when we talked about a weak muscle he had in his hand, we decided that he should have it checked by a doctor. A few days later Duncan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease is a debilitating neurological condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal stem that control voluntary muscles. As the nerves die out, the muscles waste and atrophy, spreading from the hands and feet to the arms and legs. Speaking and swallowing can also be impaired. Once the diaphragm is affected, breathing is restricted. Motor Neurone Disease is fatal and has a prognosis of two to five years. There is no cure. There is no treatment.
Duncan is a good friend and I want to provide him with all the support I can offer; for this reason I decided to be with him during this charity event and raise funds for his chosen charity (MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE ASSOCIATION). On the 3rd/4th May I will be cycling from Amsterdam all the way to London – that’s 210km, no mean feat for me. All the money I raise will be matched by my employer, so please be generous, your money is worth double to Duncan’s charity.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
