Story
Last year, through your generosity we managed to raise over £2400 together for Marie Curie Cancer Care in memory of my dad, Derek Swann. I ran the Luxembourg and Dublin marathons and friends like you dug deep into your pocket. It was a great response and one I am very greatful for. Like you I knew Marie Curie did a good work for cancer sufferers and their families but until we were on the reciving end of thier profesionalism and kindness - I had no idea just how good they were. My dad spent the last few weeks of his life in the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth and the support they gave us was outstanding. For this support to continue to be showed to those in need they depend on people like us to donate.
Last year we were a few pounds short of £3000 so I thought I would have a go at raising some more money for them - it will be great if we can reach this target, together. Dublin and it's marathon will always have a special place in my heart as dad died on the day I was due to run the 2007 marathon. This year I shall be zooming round again in a couple of weeks on October 26th and this gives you a great opportunity to consider making a donation to the great work that Marie Curie do for cancer sufferers and thier familes.
If you are able to donate to Marie Curie you will be helping to make a difference in the lives of others at a time when they really need help. Whatever the amount you can give, it will never be too small and always be deeply appreciated. One things for sure, as I blast my way through the last 0.2 of those 26.2 miles in Dublin I will be thinking of you as well as my dad.
