Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having completed two marathons a long time ago in 1998 and 2000, I vowed not to do one again.
How could any sane human being go through the endless painful months of training leading up to such an event and then on the day go through the range of emotions and madness from silly giggling, to pointless blubbing as "The Wall" comes and goes on the way to that short and precious moment of elation when the finishing line is reached?
To keep my resolve in focus, I have done quite a few half marathons over the years to remind me how painful road running is and what a bad idea a full marathon is!
However, the plan fell apart and unravelled at high speed during a moment of madness, confusion and disbelief in February when my wife Trina http://www.justgiving.com/Catriona-Pinnington0 and eldest daughter Hollie http://www.justgiving.com/H-Pinnington entered the Edinburgh Marathon. My competitive instinct and pride could not stand or allow the prospect of a couple of girlies doing a marathon whilst I sat at home or carried the camera on 27th May as a SPECTATOR! So, my heart over ruled my head and I have joined the girls in entering the 2012 Edinburgh Matrathon.
Following experience of Cancer in the family over the years, we have all entered with cancer charity places and I am really pleased and delighted to be running for MacMillan Cancer Care.
Since entering, we have also been joined in the event by our good friend and training partner Jonathan Bailey who is running for an Asthma charity and so four people from sunny Axbridge will be travelling north of the border to Scotlands capital do battle with the elements, streets and clock of Britains second biggest marathon.
We are all in the training and fundraising zone and are really looking forward to the event. We will be organising a number of fundraising events over the coming months as well as the normal sponsorship efforts. If you would like to sponsor me, I would be very grateful for any contrbutions that people feel they might be able to give and using Just Giving is one way to support. In the meantime I will keep this page updated to keep you informed of events that we are planning.
