Phil's Norwich Sprint Triathlon Challenge

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've been battling a weight issue for most of my life but, earlier this year, I weighed myself for the first time in years and š© my pants. I have a loving family, a beautiful wife and amazing (but stress-inducing) 7 year old daughter and it hit me that I would not be around for much longer to be with them if I didn't change my life.
I knew that this bizarre year gave me a unique opportunity to selfishly focus on myself and my health and so I changed my eating and began training - hard! 9 months on, I have lost over 9 stone and now want to achieve something I never thought possible - a triathlon.
This is SOOO far away from anything I dared to dream about even a year ago, but why not me? It's going to be hard but no harder than carrying the weight of an extra adult every day. I was 25 stone. I'm now 15st 11lb, so it can only get easier, right?? š¬
Why Baby Beat?
In 2000, we lost our baby boy, Ben, who came just a little too soon. The same happened in 2008 with Samuel and then again in 2010 with Elsie. On each occasion, Baby Beat helped with funeral costs, gave us so much support and put us in touch with the medical team to try to help prevent this going forward.
In 2013, after help from Royal Preston and Liverpool Women's hospitals, my amazing wife delivered our wonderful daughter, my main reason to want to be healthy.
Baby Beat gave us crucial emotional support and the gift of life. But they also raise money for life saving research, maternity services and specialist equipment. Please check their page here:

So, I'm hoping to raise £1,000. I know it's extremely ambitious but if there's one thing I've learned this year it is, as S Club 7 rightly said, reach for the stars. And even if we only get to the moon, we just might save one baby, support one family, or help give one life.
I'll give progress updates along the way so you can see how I'm getting on.
Oh, and if you need to be healthier and want to join me on this journey, message me...I'd love to have you with me š
