Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. This year I'm running The TCS London Marathon and hoping to raise money for a good cause in the proceeds!
Im a keen runner but this will be my first official marathon and after struggling with a number of injuries the last few years I'm really hoping to make the most of it.
I've chosen to support The Christie hospital in Manchester for my fundraising and here's why:
Ive been running regularly for about 5 years now and in that time I've been through some tough spells, including dealing with a family bereavement, which really impacted my wellbeing and my motivation to get out and run. One of the things that kept me going through that time was the support of my running friends, particularly my friends Wayne and Neil, who encouraged me to get out and chat about how I was feeling through running and really got me through it.
When Neil's sister was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and without treatment was given 4 - 6 weeks to live, it was time for me to return the favour! She was transferred to The Christie hospital in Manchester and has undergone her first round of Chemotherapy which worked well and she was in remission before heading into her second round of Chemotherapy. The Christie have been amazing with the treatment and support they provide and are classed as one of the best Cancer hospitals in the UK with our support they will continue to provide world class care to all their patients.
