Story
I am running Brighton Marathon in a charity place for JDRF to fundraise research into Type 1 Diabetes, with the hope we can find a cure. Training has gone well for this one, and my deferred place from last year gave me a great opportunity to run a 40 mile self supported event also raising vital funds. There is over 400,000 people in the UK living with Type 1 Diabetes which can be fatal if not managed correctly.
Type 1 Diabetes - no its not that thing you get when you eat too much sugar or put on too much weight. Its a disease which is most likely to occur in children, where your pancreas stops producing insulin to keep your blood sugar levels under control. It requires constant management via finger pricking, external monitors attached to the body and injections to provide insulin.
Our son Daniel was diagnosed on 1st January 2019 (Happy New Year!), so this is for him! Hopefully we can raise as much money as we can for this fantastic charity!
