Story
As no doubt you know, Mel, my remarkable, determined, and brave wife, has cancer.
First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, she underwent multiple surgeries and interventions over the next year, then again (on the other side) between 2012 and 2013. In 2017, she was diagnosed with secondary (terminal) cancer in her lungs and was given 1-2 years. Since then, she has struggled with ongoing complications as the cancer spreads and makes itself known, but she stubbornly and rightly insists on living the best life she can. She would be doing this marathon with me, but her consultant wouldn't let her!
As a family, we have used the services of Severn Hospice countless times, especially over the last 5 years. Their unyielding support has been so valuable and appreciated. This is an opportunity for me to give something back.
In 2019, Mel raised nearly £12,000 for the hospice by running the Vitality 10K in London (with a group of other courageous ladies) in their underwear and in 2021, my daughter, Jess, & I raised almost £3000 doing the 3 Peaks in under 24 hours. There are photos in the gallery.
Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you.For every £1 you donate, they will spend 83p directly on care - and use the remaining 17p to make another £1.Last year, all those individual donations helped provide more than £9m of caring services.Thank you - you're amazing!
