Pip was a great supporter of the Nottingham Climbers Club and the Climbers Club of which he was once Secretary.  He was also a great supporter of the traditional values of British climbing.

Pip was a Founder Trustee of the charity Community Action Nepal [CAN] and was a great supporter of the rural poor of Nepal, visiting the country on several occasions in support of CANs’s projects.  For those of us who knew Pip in Nottingham in the 1950s and 1960s, we will all, I am sure, remember him as a loyal friend who was highly intelligent, at social debates, a lively musician on folk nights and more recently he had become a considerable artist, developing a style all of his own.
