Story
Phil and I are showing our stripes for literacy, by taking part in the Where's Wally? virtual run (walk) both dressed as Wally. That's right, Phil Cadman will be walking around Walthamstow dressed as Wally. If that's not motivation enough, every penny we raise will help change the life stories of disadvantaged children in the UK. Children born in communities with the most serious literacy problems have some of the lowest life expectancies in England - with the biggest gaps being 26.1 years for boys and 20.9 for girls. They start school 19 months behind their peers, and are held back at every stage in their lives. They are twice as likely to be unemployed aged 34 and three times more likely to have mental health problems as adults. Your support makes all the difference, and means that the National Literacy Trust can continue their work to close this literacy gap, and change life stories.
