Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon in memory of our beloved brother; (Uncle) Bryan Stephenson and to raise funds for the remarkable St. Leonard's Hospice in York where Bryan and his wife Beti both passed away in the last two years.
Bryan passed in September last year of prostate cancer and Beti the previous year of motor-neuron disease.
Both Bryan and Beti received outstanding medical care from St. Leonard's. However beyond that, it was the loving manner in which it was delivered that was such a comfort to Bryan, Beti, family and friends at such a tragic time.
It wasn't just the end of life care that helped Byan and Beti so much it was also the weekly visits to the St. Leonard's Sunflower Day Care centre that eased their difficulties.
Back in the day I used to run the York half marathon with Bryan (pictured above) and so I thought that running would be a fitting way to raise money for St. Leonard's Hospice. I have not run a marathon before and having just had my 60th birthday I don't think this is the most sensible decision I've ever taken!
Our daughter Rose is running it as well (for the Wotton Sports Foundation) so hopefully she will be able to drag me along.
Please give as generously as you can for this wonderful institution that just oozes caring excellence to those when they most need it.
