Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Stu Scarborough donated much of his spare time to junior football and later senior football.

Unfortunately Stu passed away in 2015 from cancer, and Marie Curie nurses were brilliant right until the end. Julie Scarborough does a lot of fundraising for Marie Curie and arranges a memorial football match every year to raise money.

This year we are playing the match at Bootham Crescent, home to York City FC. There will be a 90 minute match (which will cripple most of us 40 year old plus players). Then back to The Shepherds Dog for a fundraising raffle.

Last year we raised just over £1300, this year we hope to beat that.

This page is set up for people who can't make the day, but would like to contribute something to Marie Curie in the name of the legend that was Stu Scarborough.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
