Story
There are many reasons that I have chosen to cycle to MIPIM this year, all of which I am very passionate about.
Reducing carbon emissions is a global challenge that has seen unprecedented attention over recent times. As Head of Sustainability for Ramboll Buildings UK, I am committed to both action and advocacy in this area. Whilst 1 less flight may not seem substantial in terms of CO2, I hope the conversations it generates inspires others to consider their own carbon footprint.
I have found that cycling and triathlons have brought me so many benefits since I started a few years ago having retired from rugby. 2019 saw a notable increase in awareness of mental health, especially in men, and I am not shy or embarrassed to admit that cycling has provided me with much needed mental, social and physical benefits in recent times. I hope everyone can find something that helps them keep their heads above water. I am inspired to work for Ramboll who actively support this - https://uk.ramboll.com/news/ruk/head-above-water
Thirdly, and equally as important, the funds raised through Cycle to MIPIM will support the vital work of Coram, Club Peloton's main charity beneficiary, which receives 60% of grants. Coram champions the rights and welfare of children and believes every child should have the best chance of a fulfilling life. Coram helps hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children and young people every single year by developing skills, building emotional strength, upholding children's rights and finding adoptive parents for those in the greatest need.Club Peloton's other charity beneficiaries, Cyclists Fighting Cancer, MSA Trust and Tom's Trust, will receive a proportion of fundraising.
I do hope you can help me in raising funds for this excellent cause.
Many thanks,
Phil
