With the escalating crisis in Afghanistan, this year I felt compelled to run for the Refugee Council. Thousands of refugees from Afghanistan with more than half of them children, have been forced to flee their homes and leave their families to escape persecution and human rights abuses.  

The Refugee Council works directly with thousands of refugees each year, providing them with access to essentials, crisis advice and practical support, help to integrate into their new communities here in the UK and counselling to help them come to terms with the trauma of what they’ve experienced.  

The Refugee Council provides lifesaving support to people especially women and children who are in need of protection.
