Story
In 2022, I wanted to set myself a challenge. Something that would push me out of my comfort zone, build on my love for running and I thought that running the marathon would do exactly that whilst raising money for a fantastic cause that is personal to me.
I wanted to pick a local charity that could make a huge difference and I have chosen, Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP). They are not just a playground, but provide an inclusive space for children and adults with special needs, in addition to providing respite care. When my sons went there it was amazing to see the difference this space provided and to watch their faces light up as they were truly able to be their authentic selves, allowing them to play freely, unlock their imagination and immerse themselves in a wide array of activities.
As a charity supporting children and adults with all types of special need, however mild or profound, their siblings and parents and carers. Their specialist indoor and outdoor play, recreational and learning facilities, are available to all children, teenagers and adults with special needs, whether they have a physical or learning disability, a sensory impairment, behavioural difficulties or autism, or whether they are socially disadvantaged or unable to make meaningful use of alternative mainstream provision.
As a small charity TVAP need your support, now more than ever. Having got through the difficult years of Covid they now face spiraling costs that they need to help them fund. Running the marathon and raising funds will help safeguard the future of the Playground, anything you could give large or small, would be so gratefully received.
