EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Earlier this year I was planning to run the Lakeland Trail Marathon. The night before the race I laid out my shoes and race number and set my alarm for an early start. But in the early hours of the morning we recieved the tragic news that my father-in-law, Michael, had died following a long fight against the head injuries he had sustained in an accident seven months earlier.

On 20th October I'm running The Yorkshire Marathon, and I know that on that day i'll be thinking about Michael. If you can spare a fiver, please donate, as a head injury is something that could happen to any of us, at any age, and at any time, and we'll be glad of the support of Headway if it happens.

I have had to bully myself through a second marathon training build up, but as I only did half the recommeded amount of training each time its probably just as well I had to do it twice!

Thanks for your support!
