Story
Manchester Mind is an independent, local charity, which supports over 6,500 children, young people and adults each year. We believe that everyone deserves to be supported in their mental health needs and we have a part to play in that. Our charity values the commitment of our staff and volunteers, who work hard to ensure services are delivered in a way that enables people to feel heard and involved. Donations and help from our fantastic supporters make a real difference, so thank you for being part of our success this year.
Myself, friends and family are aiming to raise as much money as possible for a charity which helps local people struggling with their mental health, a topic that is very important to us all in recent times.
We have decided to run from Wilmslow to Salford. 14.5 miles which is no mean feat to create a buzz around Manchester and create awareness of our chosen charity, Mind.
- 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England.
- 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England
- Suicidal thoughts and self-harm aren’t mental health diagnoses. But they are related to mental health. Over the course of someone’s lifetime:
- 1 in 5 people have suicidal thoughts
- 1 in 14 people self-harm
- 1 in 15 people attempt suicide. Women are more likely to have suicidal thoughts and make suicide attempts than men. But men are 3 times more likely to take their own life than women.
I appreciate every like, share and donation, no matter how little or large. Please remember, YOU Matter x
