Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, and sometimes you have no option but to meet it head on and overcome the trials before you. When this happens, having support from as many people and places as possible can be the only way to come through it.
I was thrown one of these curve balls ten years ago when I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, age 27 (Schwannoma of the Olfactory Nerve), approximately the size of a tangerine... eek!!! Thankfully the tumour was fully removed and I'm happy to say I made a full recovery.
My family and close friends were fantastic at this time, and gave me as much strength and support as they possibly could. However, coming to terms with the fact you have a brain tumour, and the invasive surgery required to have it removed, is life changing, and the one thing I felt I really needed was some professional support on how to deal with the diagnosis, and the effects of the operation. Unfortunately, there wasn't much available at the time, but the charity, Brain Tumour Support, is growing and is nowadays able to provide that shoulder to lean on at times when it really is needed.
When I decided to do the Three Peaks, my main motivation was for it to be a personal challenge to mark the 10 year anniversary and prove to myself how far I had come since I was tossed my own curve ball. However, now that Brain Tumour Support are offering what I needed at the time, I felt my attempt at the Three Peaks would be an ideal opportunity to raise a few pennies to help others receive what I didn't.
As it's such a short time until I set off, I've set myself a low target, only £100, but would obviously love to be able to raise as much as I can. Let's see what we can do...I suppose a little something is always better than a big fat nothing...anything you can give would be greatly appreciated, trust me!
EVERY PENNY COUNTS :) Xx
P.S. Maybe I should have said...Matt's coming along too (my rock, as always!)
