Story
26.2 miles! Thats twenty six miles! Thats far, and I am going to run it. Hard. Thats the plan anyway. It will bring me over 3 hours of discomfort, pain and difficulty breathing, pretty much what a person with Pulmonary Hypertension suffers with every second of every day. I have had the luxury of training my body to try and withstand the amount of strain I will put it under. A PH sufferer does not.
My sister, Lucy, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2006, PH is a rare condition which is a form of high blood pressure in the lungs. It causes the heart to work harder when pumping blood around the body. Lucy bravely bore this illness with dignity and courage, not allowing it to hinder her life, but sadly she lost her fight in April 2008, she was 24.
In the UK 4000 - 5000 people suffer from Pulmonary Hypertension and the small Charity, PHA-UK, needs every single penny possible to support families of sufferers and to find a cure for this terrible condition.
