Story
I am taking part in the Tonbridge Half Marathon on the 22nd September in memory of Lucy Clarke my sister. She would have been 30 this year.
Eight years ago Lucy was diagnosed with a rare condition called pulmonary hypertension which is a form of high blood pressure in the lungs. It causes the heart to work harder when pumping blood around the body. Lucy bravely bore this illness with dignity and courage, not allowing it to hinder her life, but sadly she lost her fight in April 2008, she was 24.
I will endure just 13 miles of discomfort, nothing compared to what Lucy experienced, to raise funds for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association. This charity supports those people with PH and works with medical experts and pharmaceutical companies in pursuit of a cure.
There are some 4000 people in the UK whose lives are affected by this rare disease.
