Story
Hello, I'm Patrick from HandyExperts. I've worked at HandyExperts, formerly PGS Services, for about fifteen years building and maintaining our IT systems and apps. I was born and grew up in Zambia and spent my late teens and early twenties exploring the bush (countryside/outback) out there at every opportunity.
Village Water is transforming lives in Zambia & Mozambique with safe water, sanitation & hygiene, so when I was asked if I'd be interested in helping to raise money for Village Water, I jumped at the chance. Village Water is a lean and transparent charity delivering highly targeted solutions that make a huge difference. Crucially, we'll be able to track the improvements achieved with our contributions so we'll know how the money we've raised is being used.
I'm hoping to bring together office staff, trade partners and customers with contributions of any amount. A few of us from HandyExperts will be putting our bodies on the line to carry out challenges from time to time.
Our initial target was to raise enough money to build a well and transform the lives of a group of people living in a rural village community. We managed to reach the target in November 2020 when we hit £4,600. The well we helped finance is in Limbwa Village, in Western Province, Zambia, where they now have access to safe, clean water.
Having reached this first milestone, we decided that we'd like to continue with our support of Village Water so we've moved the target up to £10,000 and we'll keep stretching the target as we raise more funds.
Thanks for reading and I hope you'll decide to join us on our fundraising journey.
