Story
As a first year bell runner, I am proud to be running for former graduate, Lyla Cornutt. Following her graduation from the Bell Center, Lyla stole my heart from the second she walked into my preschool classroom. Lyla is a spunky, funny, and kind hearted little girl. She makes every day brighter for her peers and teachers, and keeps me laughing and smiling all day long! Although Lyla was born with a congenital heart defect, she has one of the largest hearts of any
child I know! Please join me in raising money for the program who helped Lyla develop and grow into the fabulous little girl she is today! Even though the race is postponed, I will be running a virtual 5K throughout April to support Lyla and The Bell Center. Thank you in advance for your donation. Every bit helps! For more information about The Bell Center and what makes it such a wonderful organization, please read the information below.
The Bell Center is dedicated to maximizing the potential of children from birth to three years of age who are at risk for developmental delay. The staff of The Bell Center begins the work of maximizing a child's potential as soon as the child is evaluated. This evaluation assesses a child's strengths and weaknesses across five developmental domains: gross motor, fine motor, expressive and receptive language, cognition and emotional/social. From this assessment, each member of the child's transdisciplinary team develops goals in each area specific to that child. The Bell Center follows a transdisciplinary approach to providing early intervention services. This allows all areas of the child's development to be targeted every time they are at The Bell Center. Through this frequent targeting of developmental goals comes success as goals are achieved. As one goal is mastered, the next appropriate goal is is targeted, ensuring that the child is always striving to maximize their potential.
