Hundreds of runners will be taking part in the London Marathon 2023 to raise funds for St John Ambulance, the charity that picks you up, dusts you down, and gets you over the finish line.

Story

On 23rd April  I will be running in the London Marathon, to raise funds for the tremendous volunteer organisation, St John Ambulance..

Maybe a SJA volunteer has helped you or been in attendance at a sporting or cultural event,  or even more recently at a Covid vaccination centre? They have given their time for our enjoyment and health. Volunteers, like my mother, a retired GP, who has volunteered for SJA for over 40 years’ at countless events.

Recently I needed to render first aid to an elderly gentleman with severe chest pains, breathlessness and blurred vision. I looked around….there was no one else to help. I had to get on with it and hope I wasn’t causing him harm. Luckily he survived.  Subsequently I was introduced to a tremendous app produced by SJA - St John Ambulance First Aid Fast. Please download it from the App Store so you have life saving knowledge to hand. You might just save a life.

In return please do sponsor me in my marathon run.  With your support, I’ll persevere with the training and be spurred on on the big day!   Thank you.
