Story
In September 2023 I ran The Big Half Marathon in London for Freddie's Future and thanks to my supporters and their generous donations I raised vital funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
I will be running London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2024 and will be running for Freddie's Future again! Freddie's Future is a special fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust raising vital funds for life-saving research. Freddie lives with his family locally.
Freddie was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer in November 2019 at 6 years old. It is called Ewing sarcoma which was metastatic (in more than one place). It’s an aggressive cancer that creates tumours in the bone and soft tissue that can spread to anywhere in the body, very quickly. Freddie underwent 8 months of treatment, 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiotherapy and spent countless nights in hospital. Unfortunately some of the chemotherapy drugs are very old, there have been no significant improvements in treatment for nearly 40 years, and come with some scary side effects.
I would be very grateful if you could help me raise funds so other children do not suffer from the gruelling out of date treatment that Freddie went through. The Bone Cancer Research Trust offers hope to people affected by primary bone cancer. I believe the research will give a greater chance of survival and a better future.
Thank you for your support.
Love, Petra x
