They say that cancer can't be beaten. 57 of us took part in the 9 day, 110 km trek, across the Sahara Desert. There were times during the first 3 days that I felt like turning back, but knowing I was helping out people with cancer gave me the strength and determination to carry on. People like my cousin Paul who passed at 18 years and Elaine, my best friend, who succumbed to cancer at 50, and Les McCartney, 47, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer of the esophagus.
