I'm going to run the London Marathon in 2023 to raise money for Help for Heroes... and he're why I'm doing it... 

On the golf course this year I was lucky enough to spend time with Rob, an Army Vetran who had served in the Army his whole life, most recently completing tours in Afganistan and Iraq. During our chat he explained what life after the forces was like and it was clear that he was really struggling to cope with how to integrate back into society. He talked of PTSD night terrors, feeling isolated, and really struggling to find a fulfilling job. I guess I'd never even considered what it must be like for people leaving the services, especially given the structure that is in place for everyday life. I asked Rob if he missed the army and he said he'd go straight back tomorrow if he could... but he cant. 

He went on to tell me that Help for Heroes has helped him to build a support network with other vetrans, people he can talk to, to share experience. He's also had counciling to help him to cope with his PTSD. He was so passionate about how much they've helped him to turn his life around.

I wonder how many people you know who have served in the forces and could well be in the same position??   

Rob spurred me on to learn more about the charity and what they do for veterans... hence me deciding to run for them and to raise money. Any help you can offer and donations you can add to my page will be greatfully received!!! 

I'll be running some events after Christmas to help with the fundraising... and will keep you all informed!
