Story
On the 06 of October I decided to complete my first marathon, completely unprepared and with very little training I set out along the South East Coast on my own and began what would turn out to be the start of something I now have a passion for. Needles to say I piled in hard! But, it also flicked a switch in me to do something more. Over the following 4 weeks I went on to cover a total 220 miles (355 km), this included a 30 miler 40 and 50.
So what????
Doing all these crazy miles led me to thinking I could be doing it for a worth while charity and raise some awareness and maybe a bit of money.
MANUP? Is a charity that changes peoples thoughts, opinions & minds about men & mental health. The biggest killer of men under 50 is suicide, and nearly 3/4 of all suicides are men. Last year alone the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards has lost 2 young ex service men who felt like the only way out of their problems was taking their own lives. Charity's like MANUP? Are essential to changing the stigma that is attached to men's mental health which is why I'm running for them.
Over the next 8 months I will be doing the following
27th December Sunrise to Sunset challenge. As many laps around a 1km track in 7hrs 40min
1st April Shropshire Way 50 miles
12th-14th May Ultra Trail Snowdonia 100 miles
If you can donate money no matter how small thankyou! But the most important thing is raise awareness and to start finding ways of helping those who need it. Don't be afraid to ask for help.🤙
