Story
In memory of an amazing wife and a dear uncle, we are going
to attempt to cycle from London to Paris in July 2016. The trip is
around 320 miles and we intend to complete it in 4 days. The purpose of this trip is to raise funds for UHNS wards 201 and 202, which are the specialist chemotherapy wards that look after so many people fighting this uncompromising disease. Our aim is to raise around £1000 and any donations would be greatly appreciated. For more information on our stories and our reasons for taking this challenge, please see below.

I'm doing this event in memory of my wife's uncle, Paul
Wade, who sadly lost his battle with prostate and pancreatic cancer two years ago, at the age of 67. Throughout his illness, Paul retained his great sense of humour and love of life. Paul was a one-off, a larger than life character, who always loved a visit from our pet dog Eric to cheer him up. Paul wasn't just a family member but a very dear friend who will be always missed.

I am taking this challenge in memory of my late wife, Lyndsay Shepherd, who lost her battle with cancer just over 12 months ago. I'm doing it to raise funds for the wards that gave Linzi the best possible treatment and made her feel comfortable and as normal as possible whilst fighting this horrendous disease, that so many other people have to fight. Lyndsay was an amazing person who never let the fight get on top of her and always had a smile on her face, even during the worst days, and there were a few. Before Linz lost her fight, she wanted to do a challenge to raise money for the wards, to thank them for their care and to allow them to buy things to make the wards more homely, so they didn't just feel like treatment suites. Sadly, due to her treatments, that wasn't possible. She asked if I would do something on her behalf and chose this challenge for me to do, so it's been hard but I'm going to complete it for her and in her memory.
Cancer is an unforgiving disease that devastates the lives of so many people and the 2 wards that we are raising funds for provide a friendly and comfortable environment with amazingly supportive and dedicated staff, who do all they can to assist patients with their personal battle and make this difficult time easier to bear. So please dig deep in support of this worthwhile cause! All donations are greatly appreciated.
