Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Facing childhood cancer can be a devastating experience and its impact may last for many years after treatment ends. Every family’s experience and needs are unique and The Joshua Tree works with many families and schools to provide support that is tailored to their needs.
The #digdeep campaign will enable the Joshua Tree to build a Support Centre in Sandiway to extend the scale and reach of their support activities, including peer counselling and specially designed rooms to meet the needs of the children and their families.
I'm not quite sure how it came about, but some bright spark at Dayinsure had the idea of organising a charity cycle ride...and the London-Paris idea was born. Although Dayinsure are only a small company, a number of staff committed to the cause to put their bodies on the line. A total of twelve employees will be donning lycra and mounting their bikes this September with further staff providing vehicle support and cheering us on from the office. As the majority of employees have not been on a bike since childhood, it was an impressive commitment!
As more regular cyclists, both Ant and myself decided to up the ante and cycle from the company office in Tarporley, Cheshire to London, where we would meet up with the rest of the group and complete the trip to Paris. A total of 409 miles (assuming we don't get lost!) in 5 days.
You can see the route we are attempting below (copy and paste the links):
Days 1 & 2 - Tarporley to Greenwich (216 miles) https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1985231654
Day 3 - Greenwich to Newhaven (66 miles) https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1962066503
Days 4 & 5 - Dieppe to Paris (128 miles) https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1927961618
I'd be grateful of any sponsorship that you can spare. I'm not asking for donations because you're impressed with the mileage as, if you know me, you know that I enjoy cycling and, to a certain extent, I enjoy suffering on a bike! I'm not even asking for sponsorship for having to be in prolonged close proximity of colleagues dressed in spandex. But I do want to help The Joshua Tree and would really appreciate your help to do this.
