Story
My step father Tom has recently passed away because of cancer. He was a big part of my family and we will all miss him dearly as will all who knew him. Within the last few months of his life he had been admitted into St. Cuthbert’s hospice, in Durham, on a number of occasions for treatment.
The hospice was founded in 1988 and provides a range of care and support services to individuals, as well as their relatives and carers, helping people cope with life limiting illness. They receive some funding from the local primary care trust, however the remaining £1.2 million it takes to provide the 24 hour care for the centre’s patients, is raised from fund raising, donations and from their charity shops.
The hospice must raise over £4,300 everyday to be able to provide its facilities for free to their patients and families. With this in mind, I has decided to raise funds for the centre by taking part in this years Great North Run.
So please dig deep and give all you can to this very worthy cause.
Thank you
