Story
Thanks for visiting my justgiviving page!
I am going to be driving 70 kilometres over a period of a few months in my electric wheelchair to raise funds for Rose Road and to help them to celebrate 70 years of their truly amazing work supporting disabled children and young people to live a life without barriers.
I have been going to Rose Road for respite stays for just over 7 years now. The charity has made such a huge difference to my life. I've learnt independence skills though going to Rose Road. I'm more confident as a person.
The support workers are just ABSOLUTELY amazing. Every day you can see in their eyes that working at Rose Road is WAY more than just a job to them. They just go that extra mile. When I'm at Rose Road for a long stay they make sure I've got everything I need. If I haven't got something they take me to the shop to get it. It's just small things like that which makes going to Rose Road just that little bit more of a personal experience. I trust all the staff 100% and I feel it's thanks to all of them that I'm who I am today.
It's so important for my mum to know that I'm safe and happy at Rose Road. She can do so much more now. She can go on holiday, meet her friends for lunch. But she can do it at ease because she knows I'm being well cared for.
Rose Road is an absolute lifeline to families. If you have a son or daughter who has a complex disability you NEED a break. BUT while you have that break you also want to relax and know ALL their needs WILL be met. Staff at Rose Road are trained in all aspects of care. Tube feeds, epilepsy.... Whatever need the young person has will be met at Rose Road. The special thing is, needs don't just get met at Rose Road, they get met by a team of staff who are incredibly passionate about what they do.
Thanks again for visiting my page and any donation will be gratefully received.
