Macmillan provided fantastic support to my mum in 2016 before she passed away in 2016. So I'm running the Great North Run 2018 to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support but also in memory of my mum.
My journey started in February 2018 when Rob persuaded me to enter the general ballot for the GNR. As Rob turned 17 in June he is now old enough to complete a 1/2 marathon and has had aspirations for a couple of years to complete the GNR. Imagine my surprise (shock!) when I was successful in gaining an entry into this years event. Training started with moderate short runs and I'm now up to 9.5 miles. The odd niggling injury or close encounters with over enthusiastic dogs hasn't deterred me from completing a 1/2 marathon.
If there is any good news it's the fact that I'm not on my own as I will be joined by my three children, Eleanor, Ali and Rob. Our target is to raise £1600 so please help us to raise as much money as we can for a worthy charity.
