Story
On 3rd of May Peter & Stephen are planning on running over the full original length of Hadrians wall 84 miles to be precise. We are doing this over 3 days sleeping out in the open at night carrying all our previsions on our backs. We will have to cover up to 28 miles each day and all going well we will end up at Segedunum roman fort in Wallsend on the evening of the 5th May. We both live and work in north shields. We work as lifeguards at a local swimming pool and are currently in training to join the RAF Regiment. So we thought we should put our extreme training to good use and raise money for "Help for Heroes". We would love to raise £10 for every mile we cover so a grand total of £840 would be amazing. Thankyou for your support
Pete & Steve just visited Newcastle today 1st May 2010 after work, we only spent 50 minutes collecting and raised just under £100. Thankyou very much afternoon shoppers from Newcastle.
Wednesday 5th may job done! After 35 hours of actual running/ walking time we have just completed our challenge.
The first day was very good until the afternoon when stephen get some bad blisters which brought us down to a snails pace and had to make some make shift cruches to get us our last few miles for that day. I had to change my foot wear in carlisle from trainers to boots as there was not enough suppport. Day two over the hills was torture, our packs were realy starting to get heavy and we both agreed at the end of that day this was a stupid challenge and we were both in more pain than we had ever previously experienced. Day three was a nice day back to familiar surroundings but two days of wear and tear was slowing us down. We never realised just how long the river Tyne was untill we actualy jogged allong it but we dug in and finished the final 4 miles in full flight, well it felt it dont know weather it looked like it. we finished at 3.45 pm to a small welcome party which was nice. Thankyou for your support so far i hope we can reach our target.
We are now going to plan something else stupid, maybe the length of Britain or around the World maybe but will keep you informed. From Pete and Stephen a huge thanks
