Marian and I have kept in touch with Wendy and Mike since the Eastbourne Teacher college days.  Over the last few years  we have walked some of the stages of the Western coastal path; their long term project, with them.  Val, Mags and Jeff have joined the group for the coastal walks resulting in even more riotous and enjoyable evenings. Other meetings of the whole group including Pattie and Allan,Janet and Neville and Aud and Tony have been equally enjoyable.  The Ladies all being at Eatbourne college at the same time.

Walking seems to be a common pastime of the group. Last year Mike, Jeff and I walked the West Highland way with the others joining in along the way.  It was so successful that it was decided to walk the Southdowns way from Winchester to Eastbourne to Mark 50 years since the ladies met at Eastbourne Teachers training college.

 105 miles over 8 days in July would seem an effort well expended and we hope we all make it. It might also merit a contribution to charity. Cancer Research was Wendy's suggestion and we all strongly agreed.  There are personal reasons why we feel so strongly about this and we know that research that we have benefited from will help many others in the future
