I competed in this event last year and although the weather was truly awful it was an incredible day and having battled the elements for 4 hours, crossing the finishing line in our group was an amazing and rewarding feeling.

This year I booked my place nice and early which was just as well given the rate at which it booked up however I wanted to add an extra element by helping the partner charity, Marie Curie. I have recently gone through the pain of losing someone very close to me through cancer and the work done by charities like Marie Curie to support those suffering and their families cannot be underestimated. Every five minutes in the UK someone dies from cancer and just £20 can provide an hour of vital care and support to those in their own homes, right until the end.

I would really appreciate any money you can spare and give me the additional encouragement during this wonderful event. I just hope that the sun makes an appearance and I arrive at the finish not a shivering wreck!
