We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

Having worked in the seafaring community for 25 years both onboard and ashore, I appreciate the fantastic work and dedication undertaken by the RNLI volunteers.

I am doing this 575 mile cycle ride to Aberdeen, now +260 Aberdeen to Thurso and now +78 through Orkney and Shetland to Muckle Flugga at the top of the UK. 912 miles in total. All miles cycled locally within daily exercise periods to support the RNLI and of course ultimately save lives of those working at sea.

All charities have understandably seen reduced income during the Covid pandemic but this does not mean the fixed costs have reduced.  As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe.

Thank you.

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
