Story
Thanks for visiting our page.
I've been running since I was a kid, school cross country, Stoke FIT Running Club, Potteries Marathon, but in 2018 it all came to a grinding halt.
Diagnosed with a faulty heart valve and an aortic aneurism I needed a bit of repair. I had open heart surgery on 4th December 2018 and the care I had from Royal Stoke Hospital was second to none. In appreciation of this myself and Penny set ourselves a target to raise £16,000 for British Heart Foundation who have helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK.
We had some grand fundraising plans in 2019/2020 which included an 80s themed party, but lockdown stopped this. Continuing the 80s theme instead of a party we are now planning on walking 80 miles in 80s gear...thankfully not over one day but eight days!
So we start on Thursday 12th May and finish on Sunday 22nd May at Lawton Memorial Hall with tea, coffee, cake, raffle and tombola.
The walk itinerary is:
Thursday 12 May Disley to Teggs Nose 11 miles
Saturday 14th May Nuneaton Circular 12 miles
Sunday 15th May Nuneaton Circular 12 miles
Tuesday 17th May Sandbach Canal Walk 9 miles
Wednesday 18th May Biddulph to Congleton 9 miles
Friday 20th May Trent & Mersey Canal 11 miles
Saturday 21st May Nantwich Circular 8 miles
Sunday 22nd May Astbury to Lawton Hall 8 miles
We would welcome your support for all or part of any walk above, or if you would prefer to join us at Lawton Memorial Hall on Sunday 22nd May 2- 4 pm and eat cake with us that would be great too!
It's only thanks to support from people like you that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures and every pound helps so please give what you can to help us hit our target. Thanks!
