Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you know this year I will be turning the big 40, and having not done any road pushing for 8 months I was considering one last challenge before the body fully gives up the ghost. I therefore thought it would be an idea to attempt to push the Great North Run in my everyday wheelchair in September 2022.

Whilst this latest crazy idea was percolating and I was really considering if I had the time and inclination to try and get in shape for a challenge of this magnitude a lightening bolt struck one of my good friends families.

John Cook was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved walking his dog and idolising his grandchildren. John had just celebrated his 66th birthday in January 2022 when he started exhibiting peculiar behaviour which rapidly progressed. In four short weeks from being admitted to hospital and only 10 days post being diagnosed with CJD John tragically succumbed to this cruel disease.

The CJD network is the only supporting body for CJD in the UK and has been providing information and support for 20 years. It is my hope that we can provide them with a little funding to continue their work and maybe in conjunction with the National CJD Research & Surveillance Unit find a treatment or cure for CJD.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far, I can't express what a loss John was and is to his family so I haven't tried to. All I will say is that every £1 will be massively appreciated,

Additionally, if the great North Run wasn't enough of a challenge I will also be attempting to push 100 miles over ten consecutive days to kick start the training so if you can spare the price of a fancy coffee please consider making a donation.

Thank you, you are legends (only if you donate that is *jokes*)
