Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm doing a 25k trek to the summit of Pen-Y-Fan (886m) in South Wales for Parkinsons UK. Here's a brief story of why I'm doing it...

Having seen, from close quarters, the effects Parkinson's can have on an individual and the people close to them I decided I wanted to do my bit to try and help!

During a period of unemployment last year, caused by COVID, I had to find some way of keeping myself busy and began volunteering at my local Micro Brewery - The Three B's in Blackburn.

The business is a family run enterprise which has gone through more than its fair share of heartache over the years. Those of you who know the family will know that things have not been easy for them!

During the summer I got to know Rob, the brains behind the brewery, and his family very well and spent many a day working side by side with them, well 2m apart actually.

Rob was diagnosed with Parkinson's quite a few years ago and has not once let the illness get the better of him! He’s supported by a very close family, who I now consider to be close friends and I have the utmost respect for all of them and what they have to deal with on a day to day basis.

Rob, you are an inspiration!

By completing this Trek I want to try and raise money to help Parkinson’s UK to further investigate the illness and support those who are directly impacted.

Please give what you can!

Thanks in advance

Peter

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
