I'm pleased to say that I managed to walk the 13.6 miles from Kingston on Thames to the City of London.supporting the Futures For Kids Walk to Work on Friday 13 September 2013. I walked the whole way with fellow fundr raiser Lai See Chew.
It was a really difficult day starting at Kingston at 1:30pm in light drizzle. The part through Richmond Park was quite tough with muddy gravel pathways, steep grades and steadily increasing rain. After that, rain showers came and went until Battersee. With around 4 miles still to go from Battersee to the finish, the rain just got heavier and heavier. With the evening rush hour traffic and people, those four miles seemed to take forever. We eventually arrived at the finish in Paternoster Square St Pauls at 7:25pm, exhausted, absoluetly drenched, but proud to have completed the course and raised some much need funds for Futures For Kids.
Here are the statisics from my pedometer:-
Steps = 37911.
Distance = 22.63 Km (probably not accurate as it based on stride length).
Actual walking time 5 hours 13 minutes.
To all who have made donations my heart felt thanks. Your generosity helped us get through those last 4 soggy miles.
