Story
I’m running the Brighton Marathon on the 15th April this year in aid of The Alzheimers Society and in memory of "The Two Alans" , my Uncle and my Friend, both intelligent, humorous gents who needed care and support in the latter stages of their lives.
When one of the Alan's joked he'd gone to the newsagent for his Sunday paper as usual then couldn't remember the way back home I thought it was his typical wry sense of humour and didn't fully take in the potentially serious implications of his comment. Sadly I now recognise this as having been an early sign of the onset of dementia.
A presentation by The Alzheimer's Society gave me an understanding of dementia and how to assist personally as a Dementia Friend, so I will be proud to run this event to raise funds for The Society, fight dementia, and remember "The Two Alans"
All contributions are welcome, no matter how big or small, so please let's help this great cause all we can.
Thanks Ever So Much, Pete🏃
