Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having watched the last two marathons to support other (much younger) family members, my family returned this year to find me sitting on the sofa, watching the golf/football/cricket (delete as appropriate!) and told me that as I would be reaching the mammoth milestone of 50 next year, I should take part in this inspirational and emotional day, and make a difference to someone else's lives. Thinking that it was impossible to get a place, I happily agreed as long as my wife could get me in. I should have known better.....
I feel very priviledged to be running for Rainbow Trust, a charity that provides support and respite care for children with life threatening or terminal illness and their families. The London Marathon is their biggest fundraising opportunity of the year, and they are very dependent on the money that we will raise.
As running was not something I had done for several years, I have started my training very gradually and have been building up my strength and stamina since September. At the time of writing (December) I am now running over 15 miles a week, averaging a 10 minute mile, and am reallly enjoying it. Not only that, but my trousers are all starting to fall down too! I am so glad that Lucy and the girls set me this challenge and I am confident that I will make it through on that big day next April. Now all that remains is to make sure that we can raise as much money for Rainbow Trust as possible. Thank you so much for your contribution - it really will make a difference.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
