We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Peter (56) was diagnosed with early onset dementia at the age of 50.  He and his wife, Teresa, believe research is the way forward.

A keen cyclist, Peter has raised thousands for charity, including participating in the 2019 ARUK Cycling Down Dementia Winter Challenge where he cycled over 1600 miles in 3 winter months.

Peter featured in the Channel Four documentary, "The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes" (hence one of the pictures!) and remains a vocal activist both in raising awareness of the condition and in fund-raising.  ARUK is a charity close to Peter and Teresa's hearts.

There is a cycle event called "The Dunwich Dynamo" which is an overnight event from London to Suffolk. Peter has always wanted to do this but, because it takes place overnight, he is now unable to do so because of his condition. Undeterred he has proposed his own version cycling from Stratford to Saxmundham (Suffolk) - a journey of over 100 miles and which will take place during the day. He has called it "The Dunwich Daynamo". Accompanying Peter will be Teresa and his cycling chums Deb and Andrew.

You can read Peter's story in his (and Deb's) book "Slow Puncture, Living well with Dementia" published in September 2020 by The Book Guild. Also see his web pages for more inspiring information about Peter at https://peterberrylwa.wixsite.com/peterberry
