Several years ago I rashly said that I would organise and take part in a cycle ride between my home town in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, and our twin town in Normandy, Le Mele sur Sarthe. Having been partly responsible for the setting up of the twinning, it struck me that our 20th Anniversary celebrations would be an ideal time to embark upon this challenge. Not having cycled in earnest for many years, I can assure you that the 153miles which confront us will not be easily achieved. All those cycling are looking for sponsorship so that charities will also benefit from their endeavours. In my case I have decided to nominate the Halcrow Foundation to receive any monies donated.
