Story
Over six months (July-December 2017) I'm going to do six different challenges all to raise funds for Concern Worldwide to tackle hunger in some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world.
Two done, four challenges to go! In the next few weeks I'm eating bugs for a day, Fasting for 24 hours and then doing a Skydive. And although it's not the next challenge the Skydive is certainly the scariest - so a proper challenge, - at least for me!
As part of Concern's Food in a Fragile World Appeal, all donations received before 17 December 2017 will be matched pound for pound by the UK Government Aid Match scheme, DOUBLING the impact of your support.
There are loads of great causes to support, and I'm happy to support many of them, but in 2017, in a world where we have so much, I believe it's a scandal that anyone should go hungry or face starvation. I've seen first-hand the fantastic work that Concern does, helping people in desperate need when disaster strikes, and enabling some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the developing world earn a living to give their families a future.
Why six challenges? Well, I did a 5k run as part of a London Triathlon Relay Team in July - but let's be honest, that wasn't much of a challenge, so I need to make it a bit more, well ... challenging. Next up was the Causeway Coast 10k in September, - now that was a more challenging run! And after a facebook and email poll I'm doing a Skydive on 16 December! I'll also be doing the Concern FAST and eating bugs for a day, - so that leaves one more challenge to be decided, so feel free to suggest something (providing it's legal, decent and not likely to result in death or serious injury), and it might be the final challenge!
So if you believe no one should face hunger or starvation, or you just want to see me suffer, or make an eejit of myself, - throw in a tenner, or more, or whatever you can, - it will be greatly appreciated! I'm covering all costs for any event I do, so every penny raised will go directly to Concern Worldwide's life-saving work.
Thank you,
Peter
