Story

From 10/21 to 11/10 I will be participating in an organized cross country rally event for charity - winding my way through Latin America in a crazy adventure only very loosely organized by the Adventurists.  You can read more about my preparations and the trip on my blog, as well as check out my rough plans on my Adventurists team page.

As part of this, every team  needs to raise a thousand pounds for Operation Smile, which is a pretty cool charity, doing something a lot of people from the US aren't familiar with - helping developing world children with facial deformities.  Growing up in the Philippines I saw this a lot and it's an incredibly unfortunate thing for a child to have.  Every dollar you donate helps Operation Smile give these kids a better chance at happiness and a more complete life.

But let's make it interesting, shall we?  If you help out with donations, I will shower you with zany rewards both during and after the trip and will be sure to blog about it so everyone knows.  Every level of donation gets you all the rewards of the previous levels!  Donate $125+ and you'll get The Ultimate Reward, The Pete Puppet, Fat Loots, and The Consolation Prize! Stack 'em up people!

more than 80£ ($125)!! The Ultimate Reward for the Ultimate Donor: Your mug (or a logo of your choice) on my Moto Taxi throughout the entire adventure.  You provide the picture, I'll get the sticker made.  You will be preserved forever in photos and video of my adventure as a generous donor and supporter of both disadvantaged children and general madness.  (note - gotta get me the photo by 10/16 so I have time to get the sticker made!)

50£-80£ ($75-$124): The Pete Puppet: I'll video or photo myself doing something loony or cool during the trip, dedicated entirely to you - at your request!  Backflips off the mototaxi, eating insects, chugging car bombs with the locals - if it's not going to get me hurt or thrown in jail, I'll make it happen.  Request in the comments or by e-mail!

25£-50£ ($40-$74): Fat Loots: You get a trinket. During my travels I will find a wonderful treasure for you and deliver the booty upon my return.  It may be a rare artifact, some bizarre liquor, or a crazy peruvian alpaca fur hat.  Whatever the end result, you can rest assured it will be chosen specifically for you.

less than 25£ ($40): The Consolation Prize:  Hey, not everyone with a heart of gold is a high roller.  For being cool enough to help out, you'll get a picture of me somewhere in South America holding up a custom hand-written thank you sign.  You'll get not only the high resolution digital original (posted on-line for all to know), but I'll even get a special "real life" old fashioned photo printed out for you to put up behind you at work - because everyone should know how much you rock.

And because I'm crazy like that, I'm going to make a limited time super special offer:  If you get together with some friends and all donate in a single group, I will give appropriate prizes to everyone in the entire group* for the tier of your donation!  It's like a late night infomercial, you'll never top this deal!

Thanks everyone!
