Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At 19 weeks old Finley was diagnosed with 2 rare syndromes potocki lupski syndrome and Charcot Marie tooth disease. This means many different things for Finley but for the most part right now, his biggest hurdle is his physical needs.
Because of his syndromes he is very weak in all areas of his body, predominately on his left side. He has struggled throughout his almost 4 years to achieve most things that we all take for granted. Finley is not a quitter and has never let his physical needs stand in the way if something he wants to achieve, he is extremely determined and always finds a way however unconventional they are!
This does mean that Finley spends his time exhausted, he doesn't walk so shuffles or knee walks his way around. This is something that we would all struggle with for a few minutes let alone a day. He's desperate to keep up with his peers and play like any other little boy would.
Finley starts school in September and will require a powered chair to help him. As he cant walk I am hoping to raise some money to contribute to the 20,000 GBP cost of one that can be lowered to the ground so that he can climb in himself without an adult to lift him. This will give Finley the independence and freedom that he deserves.
Finley is a very happy and brave little boy so the addition of the right apparatus will transform his life and enable him to not spend his days feeling drained. It will give him the chance to keep up with his friends and will also be his safety net as well as his sanctuary.
This is my first ever half marathon but after meeting Finley and knowing his parents I have been truly inspired by this brave and well deserving little boy and want to do all that I can to help him.
